The Florida football program is searching for answers after an underwhelming 2023-24 season. The Gators finished the year with a 5-7 record and finished fourth in the SEC East. As a result, the team has parted ways with assistant coaches Corey Raymond and Sean Spencer, per On3.

The Gators re-tool after coming short of a winning record

Corey Raymond was the Gators' assistant head coach and secondary coach, while Sean Spencer was a co-defensive coordinator and defensive lineman coach.

Both assistant coaches were in their second year with the team under head coach Billy Napier. The two coaches' efforts will not go without appreciation. Still, Florida's decline in their defensive play was one of the main reasons they ended the season with a losing record.

The Gators finished the season on a five-game losing streak. Despite the cold spell, the team showed great fight in its last matchup against the fourth-ranked Florida State Seminoles.

Florida lost the FSU game 24-15 but accumulated more total yards of offense than the Seminoles. The Gators' running attack made a big difference. Montrell Johnson led the team with 107 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries.

The Florida football team can use its experience against Florida State to continue to build its team in preparation for the 2024 season.

Florida fans await the moves the program will make as it looks to improve and climb higher in the SEC East. Surely, Billy Napier and co. have a plan to bolster the coaching staff and the on-the-field unit so the Gators can reign atop the swamp once again.
