She announced her intentions to enter the transfer portal on April 4th in a letter that said:

The last two years at Syracuse have taught me many life lessons, and for that experience, I will always be grateful.

To my teammates, the memories and relationships we created are priceless. Y'all have me for life.

To Orange Nation, thank you for valuing me as a person and player, even while being medically sidelined for most of my time at ‘Cuse.

I am earning my bachelor's degree in May and will always be a proud graduate of Syracuse University. However, in this time of transition, I have decided that in order to reach my full potential as an athlete while continuing to grow as a person, I am entering the transfer portal as a grad student with two years of eligibility remaining.

I am healthy and ready to begin my new chapter.

McEvans began her career at Buffalo, earning a spot on the All-MAC Rookie team. In her second year, injuries disrupted her season before she transferred to Syracuse. She played 17 games before a season-ending injury against Boston College in the 2022-2023 season, averaging 2.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. McEvans did see action in the 2023-2024 year.

Before college, she excelled at Southfield A&T High School in Michigan. She played a key role in leading her team to four consecutive OAA League Championships, two district championships, and a state Final Four appearance. McEvans earned recognition as a two-time member of the Associated Press Division 1 All-State Team and was named to the All-North First Team during her senior year. She accumulated 1,500 points throughout her high school career.

The Florida A&M Rattlers have a lot to build on with McEvans joining the roster. In their first year under legendary Lady Vol Bridgette Gordon, the Lady Rattlers finished with an 8-10 in the conference and boasted the SWAC Player of the Year in Ahriahna Grizzle. The clinched a spot in the SWAC Tournament, where they lost a hard-fought game to the second-ranked Grambling Lady Tigers.
