According to McLaren team principal Zak Brown, Lewis Hamilton, and Max Verstappen face a new threat to their status in Formula 1.

Both Verstappen and Hamilton dominate Formula 1, with Red Bull's star leading the championship race by 12 points. The pair have been the most talked-about topic related to the sport.

Their fame and rivalry are no accident; besides having tremendous performing cars, Verstappen and Hamilton possess talent above the rest of the grid.

However, an up-and-coming British star seems to be close to Hamilton and Vertsappen's status. McLaren's Lando Norris has shown impeccable performances throughout his short career with five podium finishes to his name, despite having a slower car. Brown recognizes Norris' capabilities amid the young British driver placing fifth in the driver's standings, closely behind Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas.

“Lando first came on my radar in 2014. I think he can be counted among the best drivers now,” Brown said in an interview with De Telegraaf.

“He’s on the level of Verstappen and Hamilton. Maybe not in terms of experience, but definitely in terms of speed.”
As of now, Formula 1 fans primarily have their eyes set on Hamilton and Verstappen's rivalry as the season's end is near with just five races to go.
