Francis Ngannou has never been a fan of the interim heavyweight title. He was never vocal about it being unnecessary when Ciryl Gane fought for the interim prize at UFC 265 back in August.

His feelings towards the UFC interim title certainly haven't gotten any better. He made a big declaration regarding Ciryl Gane's title ahead of UFC 270 in January.

“I don’t recognize [Gane’s] belt,” Ngannou told Sports Illustrated. “I’m the undisputed heavyweight champion. [Gane’s belt] isn’t legitimate, it is a replacement. The presence of the champion makes the interim title invalid. And I’m here.”

Not only does Francis Ngannou not like the interim UFC title, but he also doesn't like for anyone else to be at the top of the division. The Cameroonian heavyweight champion wants to take everyone out and stand alone.

“I want to be the one, the only one, on top of the division,” Ngannou said. “That means I have to take everyone else out.”

“I have what it takes to shut up everyone in the division. I’m going to make a statement on January 22.”

There's no beef between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane but that doesn't mean the fight doesn't have any hostility. The UFC heavyweight champion doesn't like the interim title and he doesn't like Gane's coach.

There are plenty of storylines heading into UFC 270 and it's a very fun matchup between two of the best in the division. There can only be one and the two men will have to battle it out to discover who is the best.
