The director of The Fugitive, Andrew Davis, recently opened up about the Harrison Ford beard scene and much more.

It's been 30 years since the film. However, there are some memorable moments, as the director discloses in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Director Andrew Davis discusses Harrison Ford's role

Harrison Ford played Dr. Richard Kimble in the film. When asked about a scene where Kimble eats scrambled eggs in a hospital, Davis has some thoughts. He also reveals they had one shot to capture the train wreck and only one shot to get Ford to shave off the beard.

“We knew we only had one shot of the train crash and only one shot to shave off the beard [in that same scrambled egg sequence],” the director said. “So there was a question of how to stage it so he could be hidden behind the bathroom door, and it's funny because when the nurse comes in to fill up the water bottle, you can see the paper towel still fluttering from him closing the door. So he's glad she didn't catch that. That was one of the few things we shot in North Carolina besides the train crash, and Harrison was really on his game.”

In a Hollywood Reporter interview, Harrison Ford mentioned that Warner Bros. chairman Bob Daly was not fond of him with facial hair. So, it makes it funny that he shaves it off within 30 minutes of The Fugitive, but at the end of the movie, a random person in the U.S. Marsha'l's office says, “Tell [Kimble] he looks good in a beard.”

Andrew Davis denies that the line is in there because Harrison Ford seemingly mocked Bob Daly, but it's a nice little nod to the chairman's opinion.
