Aliens Fireteam Elite Review Scores on Metacritic: 70 Metascore

Aliens Fireteam Elite is an upcoming multiplayer third-person shooter game developed by Cold Iron Studios in collaboration with Disney’s 20th Century Games. Since Alien: Blackout, it is the first Alien game and is a standalone sequel to the original Alien trilogy.

The Alien franchise has had a lot of hits and misses. That goes for both films and video games. However, it seems like the Xenomorph gods have been kind to Aliens Fireteam Elite. Although most of the scores on Metacritic are mixed, some of them gave really positive reviews about the game. Let's break down the most notable ones, shall we?

Gaming Trend gives Aliens Fireteam Elite a perfect 100

Well, would you look at that? A darn perfect score. It appears that Gaming Trend absolutely loved the co-op shooter so much that they went all the way and gave it a 100.

“We’ve waited far too long for an Aliens game this good, but it’s finally here. With an exciting campaign, five exciting classes, a dazzling array of weapons, and a staggering array of monsters to use them on, Aliens Fireteam Elite is a perfect organism.”

Comicbook.com scores it a 90/100

Comicbook.com gives a fair review about Aliens Fireteam Elite. They stated that although it wasn't a shot-for-shot video game adaptation of the films, fans of the franchise as well as fans of the third-person shooter genre will still enjoy the game nonetheless.

“Aside from being a faithful take on the Aliens experience, Aliens Fireteam Elite is simply a good game. Is it a shot-for-shot adaptation of its source material? Certainly not, but I definitely felt like I was in at least some version of an Aliens world through and through. Its loot and combat only improve with time without asking players to mindlessly grind just to keep progressing. The obvious push towards co-op, as opposed to single-player, may be a bummer to some, but even those who venture into Xenomorph swarms on their own will have plenty to look forward to in Aliens: Fireteam Elite.”

PC Gamer gives Aliens Fireteam Elite a 73/100

PC Gamer is known to be very honest with its reviews. When it came to Aliens: Fireteam Elite, they absolutely loved it but that doesn't mean it doesn't have its shortcomings.

“So with the right mindset, Aliens Fireteam Elite is dumb explosive fun—a swarm-based action game that's derivative of both Left 4 Dead and Gears of War, but with a few nice little touches of its own. It has that competent mid-budget feel that's slowly becoming identifiable as publisher Focus Home's house style, which is actually kind of refreshing in a videogame series that's been so profligate in the past. It has sparse story and cheesy dialogue and NPCs who talk without opening their mouths (but not in that ethereal way that can be explained away as ‘artsy').”

IGN scores the Aliens game a 70/100

Aliens Fireteam Elite is a great game according to IGN. However, it's the repetitive scenarios and excruciatingly drawn-out missions that sort of make it “meh”. They do believe that the game will improve as time goes by. Let's hope they're right.

Aliens Fireteam Elite does enough right to be plenty worthwhile for a trio of co-op shooter fans who’d rather battle hordes of xenomorphs than the usual zombies. Between the excellent weapons, classes, and enemy types and some wonderful nostalgic hat-tips toward what came before, it's a must-play if you hold any fondness for this series. The caveats, of course, are having to put up with repetitive scenarios and some excruciatingly drawn-out missions. Aliens: Fireteam Elite may not be a triumphant win, but it's far from a game over, man.”
