The Support DPS role in Genshin Impact has a lot of other names: sub-DPS, off-field DPS, and secondary DPS, just to name a few. This role focuses on augmenting the carry’s (also known as main DPS) damage, by either providing significant damage boosts, or by simply doing a lot of damage even when not on the field. Due to the Spiral Abyss and other hardcore content becoming a lot harder over the months, this role has become even more essential when building teams. In this Genshin Impact Tier List, we have ranked the game’s support DPS characters according to their strengths, their relevance in the meta, and the power level of the team compositions they are a part of.

Genshin Impact Support DPS Tier List

SS Tier

Disclaimer: Some might argue that the characters in this tier don’t deal that much damage in comparison to those in S tier and below, but we have considered the characters’ flexibility and presence in multiple meta teams upon making this Genshin Impact tier list.

Venti – Our alcoholic bard has stood strong since the game’s release, and has maintained his status as the best Anemo support in the game. Venti’s ability to effortlessly clump up a group of enemies has been essential for so many teams, and it’s quite hard to replace him even with the arrival of Kazuha, the other premier Anemo support. Venti has been the cornerstone of Morgana (Perma-Freeze) teams, which is still one of the best teams to have in the game.

Kazuha – This wandering samurai has been a huge part of the meta since his arrival, and has created a lot of niche teams where he is irreplaceable. Kazuha provides RES shred and Elemental Bonus DMG for his team, along with respectable damage with proper investment. Venti has the drawback of lifting enemies too high up, which most melee characters can’t reach–and this makes Kazuha a better alternative for such compositions.

S Tier

Xiangling – What once used to be an underwhelming character in terms of damage, has turned into one of the most meta-defining characters in the whole game. Xiangling is a huge damage contributor on National teams, thanks to her amazing Pyronado. Being Pyro is a huge boon for her, allowing her damage to proc Melt, Vaporize, and even Overload, which increases her damage by a ton. She is a mainstay in the National team (Xiangling, Xingqiu, Bennett, Chongyun), its other variations (Childe National, Tazer), and the now popular OverVape/Raiden National team (Raiden, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Bennett).

Xingqiu – Xingqiu is every Pyro’s best friend. It’s as if he has a harem of his own, due to so many Pyro DPS characters wanting him in their team. He can even fit in permafreeze and Electro-Charged teams, solely because his burst deals so much damage on its own. Xingqiu is a vital Vaporise support for Hu Tao, Diluc, Klee, Yanfei, and National teams.

Albedo – Our stoic alchemist received some shiny new gear in 2.3, that brought his damage to new heights. Along with the advent of Itto and Geo teams in general, Albedo has become one of the most important characters when building a Geo team, simply due to the massive amounts of off-field damage he can effortlessly provide. He also fills a niche in comps with a double-Geo setup (Xiao, Hu Tao teams), which also made those teams stronger.

A Tier

Mona – When played properly, Mona can dish out considerable amounts of damage with just a press of a button. Her ability to inflict a debuff that increases the damage taken by enemies, makes her essential in permafreeze teams and other burst damage setups. Her Stellaris Phantasm has a very high ratio in a single instance of damage, which can be devastating on a well-placed Vaporise and proper investment.

Fischl – She really only does one thing, but she does it well–deal off-field damage. Her Oz lasts for a long time, and her burst is essentially a reset for Oz. She mainly does single-target damage, but the damage is considerably high with enough investment. She also provides a lot of energy, and being Electro makes her a good support for Superconduct, especially for Eula.

Sucrose – It might be difficult to notice with all the numbers on the screen, but when Sucrose does her thing, she actually deals a lot of damage with her swirls. By stacking a lot of Elemental Mastery, she can share this EM to all her teammates, which is invaluable for a lot of teams. This also means that her swirls deal a TON of damage, especially when there are a lot of enemies grouped together.

Rosaria – This mysterious nun has a unique perk of providing her teammates with Crit Rate, which is a general damage increase for all characters. Her Cryo damage is also respectable, with her Elemental Burst being vital for Reverse Melt teams. Her only caveat is her burst being stationary, which can be a huge deal-breaker against enemies that like to move around the battlefield.

B Tier

Beidou – Our beloved Pirate Queen, Beidou, has fantastic utility and damage against groups of enemies. Her chaining burst deals a ton of damage across multiple foes, and is easily sustainable when you have a good balance between damage and Energy Recharge. However, her damage significantly drops against single-target enemies, which includes most of the bosses in the game. In those situations, Fischl is undoubtedly better as an off-field Electro DPS.

Kujou Sara – Sara has shown herself as a capable alternative for Bennett in certain teams, where Electro is more viable. Her skill is tough to execute, but is very doable with enough practice. Her burst deals considerable damage with enough investment, and as such, she is used as a burst DPS and buffer on certain teams like Raiden and Hu Tao.

C Tier

Aloy – It’s quite disappointing to see a well-anticipated character perform so poorly upon arrival, and we can blame it on her clunky skill, which was supposed to be great on paper. Despite that, Aloy is a viable sub-DPS thanks to her high-damage nuke from her burst, and her high Energy yield that’s useful for Cryo teams.
