G2 Esports once again finds itself in the middle of controversy via a Tweet, only a few months after their whole Andrew Tate fiasco.

The League of Legends 2022 World Championship has already concluded, and with most LEC teams exiting early, the off-season is well underway. Players are being traded, teams are being shuffled, and contracts are being signed for the upcoming 2023 Spring Season. However, prominent names in Western League of Legends have been speaking up recently about G2 Esports' unfavorable player contracts which has since been dubbed “contract jail.”

Ex-G2 Esports jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski is the most recent “prisoner” of this jail, saying on-stream that his buyout price was high which has prevented him from finding a team for the upcoming season.  Superstar AD Carry and once G2 Esports member Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson also voiced his concerns, saying he had a similar experience once he exited the org.

Amidst the drama, the G2 Esports official Twitter posted a strangely self-deprecating meme, depicting various jails in different countries and ending with G2 Esports being referred to as Contract Jail.

This tweet has garnered interactions from fans, dissenters, and prominent names in the League.

Jankos himself reacted with a single emoji.

Ex-G2 ADC Victor “Flakked” Lirola

Even esports organization Cloud9 didn't miss the chance to poke fun:

Play-by-play LEC caster Aaron “Medic” Chamberlain responded in kind with a meme. He even managed to reference his medical background. Talk about hitting multiple birds with one meme.

Fellow LEC caster Andy “Vedius” Day kept it concise.

LEC caster and ex-pro Marc “Caedrel” Lamont had the exact same reply.

Ex-coach and LCS caster Barento “Raz” Mohammed was evidently not amused.

Luka “Perkz” Perkovic, previously G2's AD Carry, references what could have been. Upon leaving G2, Perkz was reportedly joining another EU team in Fnatic but G2 blocked negotiations. Perkz went on to join NA team Cloud9 instead.

Ex-pro William “Meteos” Hartman practically summed up what we all felt when we saw the meme:

Esports personality and LEC talent Laure “Bulii” Valée also replied with a single word. At this point, we're convinced they had an agreement to keep their reactions as short as possible.

Prominent League of Legends content creator ForestWithin chose a more… amusing approach.

As for fans who have seemingly had enough of G2 drama, they're all cracking jokes. Poor social media handler.

An eagle-eyed fan noticed that G2 had an opening for a Social Media Specialist.
