Damon Harrison was named First-Team All-Pro in his first season with the New York Giants in 2016.

The man who became known as “Big Snacks” was a staple of the Giants' interior, tallying 86 combined tackles and 2.5 sacks from the defensive tackle spot. The next season was much of the same, with Harrison notching 76 combined tackles and seven tackles for a loss.

But despite past production, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman decided to trade Harrison to the Detroit Lions in October of 2018, a move that still irks Harrison to this day (via John Fennelly of USA TODAY):

“I was a bit angry,” Harrison said on Chris Long’s podcast about the trade. “To be completely honest with you, I didn’t want to go to Detroit because of some things that I heard from some guys in the past and some guys who were there. When I got the call that that’s where I was traded, I didn’t answer the phone for a couple hours. (Lions general manager) Bob Quinn was calling me, and I didn’t pick up the phone because I was trying to figure out a way to get out of it.”

Despite feeling hesitant to join the Lions, Harrison dominated in Detroit. He posted 50 combined tackles and 3.5 sacks in just 10 games in 2018 before adding 2.0 sacks and 49 combined tackles last season.

But the Lions released Harrison this offseason in an effort to clear cap space, and “Big Snacks” currently finds himself unemployed.

The 32-year-old might have to settle for a one-year pact, though that is unlikely to come from the Giants.
