The New York Giants are not playing for much at this point in the 2018 NFL season. However, quarterback Eli Manning is at least hoping to leave a parting gift with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17.

The Cowboys have clinched the NFC East for the second time in three years. According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, he is still looking to damage their confidence going into the postseason:

“We want to go out there and play a rival team,’’ Eli Manning said. “I don’t know if they’re playing everybody or not, but I’ve been in that situation before, and you want to go out and win, and carry a little momentum going into the playoffs, and it’s our job to put a little doubt in their mind, and go beat a good team.’’

Manning's comments are indicative of the rivalry that exists in the division. It is not just the Cowboys and Giants that have expressed disdain for each other but the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins as well. Watching Dallas have a bounce-back year has undoubtedly left a bad taste in their mouths. The least they can do is reveal a couple of chinks in the armor in the season finale.

Manning certainly knows a thing or two about the benefits of having momentum going into the playoffs. It is clear that he is going to do what he can to make sure the Cowboys have none of it after this week. It is no secret that Dallas has prided itself on their formidable defense. A high-scoring affair with the undermanned Giants could be more than enough to knock them down a peg or two.
