The New York Giants lost a couple of star players this offseason, trading wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns and allowing safety Landon Collins to sign a multi-year deal with the division rival Washington Redskins.

While the trade of Beckham snatched the most headlines, the Giants' decision to not even attempt to re-sign Collins may be what ends up hurting them the most, and that is what bothered former New York defensive lineman Justin Tuck more than anything:

“I love Landon (Collins),” Tuck said on Monday, according to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. “That's probably the one that I'm most pissed about.”

The Giants' stance on Collins was certainly odd, as New York could have, at the very least, placed a franchise tag on Collins and tried to negotiate a long-term deal with him a bit later on in the offseason, but it didn't even do that.

It's not like Collins is just a run-of-the-mill defensive back, after all.

The 25-year-old has made three straight Pro Bowl appearances, most recently tallying 96 tackles, a forced fumble and four passes defended in 12 games in 2018 before succumbing to a shoulder injury that would ultimately require surgery.

Collins, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Giants in the second round (33rd pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

His best season in New York came in 2016, when he racked up 125 tackles, four sacks, five interceptions, a fumble recovery and 13 passes defended en route to making his first Pro Bowl and earning a First-Team All-Pro selection while also challenging for the Defensive Player of the Year award.
