New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur is excited about this season and thinks this team is better than last years squad.
The Giants traded away Odell Beckham Jr. and Oliver Vernon, and they allowed safety Landon Collins to go to the Washington Redskins. Even with those guys gone, Shurmur thinks he's got a good group this year.
“I feel like we are a better football team right now, and this is a team sport,” head coach Pat Shurmur told reporters on Monday via Giants Wire.
Alec Ogletree agrees with his coach and thinks one of the big reasons that this team is better is because this is the second year in the system, and players are more comfortable.
“We are a better team than we were at this point last year. Last year was a new a year for everybody. It took a little time for everybody to get going the right way. This year I thought we attacked OTAs really well and the summer really well. Now we just have to continue to attack the season as well as we did in the offseason,” defensive captain Alec Ogletree said.
Shurmur knows there is talk around the team, but they aren't listening to that, and they know what they can do that on the field.
The coach might be right about this team being better, but think about how much better this team could be if started Daniel Jones who has impressed during training camp instead of Eli Manning who will be on the field during Week 1.
