The New York Giants made it clear that the Eli Manning era is coming to an end last Thursday when they took Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Most people did expect the Giants to take a signal-caller in the first round, as Manning is entering the final year of his deal, and at 38 years old, he is certainly not the same player he was years back.

But what was Manning's response to New York deciding to roll with Jones? Apparently, he didn't have much of one.

“He had no response,” said Pat Shurmur, according to Paul Schwartz of The New York Post.

Obviously, Manning knew this day would come, so I'm sure it did not come as a surprise to him that the Giants drafted Jones.

Actually, it's not so much that New York took a quarterback. Again, we all expected that. It's the quarterback that the Giants actually chose that has raised some eyebrows.

While most felt that New York should have taken Ohio State signal-caller Dwayne Haskins, the Giants decided to go with a guy in Jones who was viewed by most as the fourth-best quarterback prospect in the draft behind Kyler Murray, Haskins, and Drew Lock.

Jones is coming off of a senior campaign in which he threw for 2,674 yards, 22 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while completing 60.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 131.7.

Not exactly great numbers.

But, the Giants seem to see something special in Jones, and some have likened him to Peyton Manning and Eli himself, so I guess we should all reserve judgment until we see Jones get on the field.
