The New York Giants are open to trading seven-year veteran linebacker Alec Ogletree.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, after the Giants completed a trade with neighbor New York Jets for defensive tackle Leonard Williams, Ogletree could be on his way out.

Ogletree, 28, is competing in his second season with the G-Men after previously playing with the St. Louis and Los Angeles Rams. A first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Ogletree has gone on to record 7.5 career sacks along with 633 combined tackles in 86 games.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Ogletree commented that he expects to stay with the Giants past the trade deadline (per North Jersey's Art Stapleton via Giants Wire).

“I mean, as of right now, I’m still a Giant and I’m going to stand by it. I haven’t heard anything different. I’m a Giant today and I’m thankful for the opportunity that I’m here now,” told reporters on Monday.

With the Giants experimenting in quarterback Daniel Jones' first season as a pro, all bets are off regarding how the trade deadline could go down. For example, they traded multiple picks for former first-round pick Williams from the Jets. However, Ogletree could represent a veteran on his way out that Giants brass doesn't see as a part of the franchise's future, unlike the 25-year-old defensive tackle.

New York is currently in the midst of a four-game losing streak, losing their last two by a combined 11 points. At 2-6, there may be no hope for Ogletree on this roster.
