Last year, the Green Bay Packers went 6-9-1 on the season, landing third in the NFC North division. Overall, it was a very poor performance from the team. They fired their head coach Mike McCarthy after Wee 13 and their lack of consistency from both the offense and the defense led to their downfall. Nothing seemed to work.

McCarthy had been leading the Packers since 2006, giving him a 13-year tenure with the organization. His firing was a long-time coming, and it was a bit of a surprise that he wasn't let go sooner. In 2017, the team went 7-9, but his quarterback Aaron Rodgers was out with injury for the majority of the season. He was given another chance with Rodgers healthy, but it was all for naught. He still proved that he had lost the trust of his team.

The Packers hired Matt LaFleur away from the Tennessee Titans to be their new head coach this offseason. Another member of the Sean McVay coaching tree, he has one of the best resumes in the league. He's spent time with the Redskins, Notre Dame, and the Falcons before arriving with the Rams in 2016. To many, he's considered to be an offensive genius who fully utilizes a quarterbacks toolset.

By bringing in LaFleur, the team is announcing that they're becoming more accepting of modern football. His offensive scheme is very modern, definitely the flavor of the era. His scheme is a mix of a West Coast offense mixed in pre-snap motion and differing route progressions. It combines all the things he learned while coaching in college and in the league.

This works perfectly with Aaron Rodgers, who desperately needed offensive minded leadership. Rodgers is now 35 and is not nearly as athletic as he once was. His arm strength is also regressing, slowly but surely. Putting him in an offense where he can use his high IQ and arm rather than his ability to scramble is huge.
Last season, Rodgers threw for 4,442 yards with 25 touchdowns and only two interceptions. His completion percentage sat at 62.3 percent and his quarterback rating was a solid 56.8. His completion percentage was the second lowest since his rookie year, and his quarterback rating the lowest. The offensive system wasn't doing him any favors.
Thankfully, Rodgers did have a few offensive weapons at his disposal. Davante Adams and Jimmy Graham both are great end zone targets, but outside of the duo, the Packers don't have a lot of depth. They really need to go out into the trade market and find a player who can fit into LaFleur's system.
A perfect fit for the team would be Nelson Agholor of the Philadelphia Eagles. Agholor is an excellent wideout who's remained consistent and is still very young. The past two season he's had over 60 receptions and 700 receiving yards. His production isn't amazing, but the Packers don't need that. They need someone who runs routes well and has good hands. Agholor fits the bill.
Since his rookie year in 2015, his catching percentage has risen nearly 20 percent. It's now at 66 percent. He's also caught 12 touchdowns in the past two seasons alone. The 25-year-old is just hitting his prime and already is a great wide receiver.
Letting go of Agholor for draft picks would help the Eagles reset and create more depth for their defense. They don't need five or six capable starting wideouts on the roster. This could help them improve their depth without losing much value.
Acquiring Agholor for the Packers just makes too much sense. It remains to be seen how the organization will tackle their lack of depth on offense moving forward.
