It wouldn't shock anyone if Gregg Popovich was a little salty on Thursday night.
After all, the San Antonio Spurs were dominated in an elimination game versus the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6. The Thunder led by as many as 28 points, a shocker considering the Spurs won 67 games during the regular season.
Despite the blowout defeat, Popovich offered some perspective on the loss—with a very odd response:
“NASA discovered all those habitable planets the other day. Twelve hundred habitable planets. And then last night somebody lost a basketball game. Come on, get over yourself.”
While it's true it was just a basketball game, it's hard to believe the long-time head coach wasn't upset over the loss. From late in the first quarter until the end of the game, San Antonio simply couldn't compete with Oklahoma City.
Popovich may think that there is 1,200 habitable planets that NASA discovered, but only nine of those are actually habitable. The next questioner was probably going to point this mistake out, but the Spurs coach cut him off mid-sentence:
“I don't want to answer your question. You're a radio talk-show guy that just stirs it up.”
