After last playing in the NBA in the 2015-16 season, not a lot has been heard from Tayshaun Prince and many were left wondering if he had already decided to retire, or simply taking a break to plan a comeback. That changed recently following news that broke about the Memphis Grizzlies hiring Prince for a front office position, per Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal.

With his experience and knowledge of the game, he could be an asset to the franchise, as he can help in the decision-making process within the front office.

Despite making it to the playoffs in each of the past seven seasons, the team has failed to win the West, and has only reached the conference finals once. That said, they made a few changes to their lineup this summer, most notably allowing Zach Randolph and Vince Carter leave, in order to make their squad younger. Tayshaun Prince’s addition will help them in their transition, and also identify other concerns they need to address.

The Kentucky product was the 23rd overall pick in the 2002 draft, and was part of the championship-winning team of the Detroit Pistons back in 2004. During his playing days, Prince made a name for himself as an excellent defender with the ability to play both forward positions. He has appeared in 1,017 regular season and 140 playoff games throughout his career that spanned 14 years. Tayshaun Prince also played for the Grizzlies for three years, from 2013 to 2015.
