Memphis Grizzlies newcomer and seven-year NBA veteran forward Jae Crowder wants to “stay” in Memphis and help develop the organization's young players, per Grizzlies.com's Mike Wallace.

The Grizzlies acquired Crowder in the Mike Conley trade with the Utah Jazz, which included swingman Grayson Allen, veteran shooter Kyle Korver, Crowder, the 23rd overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and a future first-round pick. Memphis, meanwhile, is sending Conley and a 2020 protected first-round pick.

Crowder could be a valuable rotation player for any number of expected playoff-contending teams this coming season but will reportedly be interested in mentoring Memphis' young players such as Jaren Jackson Jr., second overall pick Ja Morant, Brandon Clarke, and possibly forward Josh Jackson following the Grizzlies' deal with the Phoenix Suns.

Memphis is reportedly acquiring Jackson and guard De'Anthony Melton alongside two second-round picks in exchange for the newly acquired Korver and guard Devon Carter.

Crowder has been to the postseason in his NBA tenure on six separate occasions—including all the last six years. He's spent time playing for the Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Utah Jazz; all but Cleveland making postseason appearances for. Crowder has averaged 10.4 points in 51 playoff games.

A native of Georgia, Crowder went to college at Marquette University where he entered the draft following two seasons in the NCAA. The Cavs selected Crowder with the fourth pick in the second round (34th overall) of the 2012 NBA Draft. He was traded the next day to the Mavericks.

Crowder has averaged 9.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in 543 career appearances, shooting 42.3% from the field, 33.9% from deep, and 77.8% from the charity stripe.
