The Memphis Grizzlies and starting power forward JaMychal Green are not close to sealing a deal before the deadline, according to Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal.
Green, who is a restricted free agent has a one-year, $2.8 million qualifying offer on the table, which would render him an unrestricted free agent by next offseason. The Alabama product could also sign a longer-term deal, but has not been approached by the team with an offer.
Both parties are at an impasse and Green was not available for the team's Media Day and the first two training camp practices.
“We’re not going to go into negotiations. That’s been our policy with any player,” Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said.

Head coach David Fizdale was torn between praising his starter and saying the right things concerning his impending deal.
“Everyone knows how we feel about him. I love him. He knows that,” Fizdale said. “The fact that I was willing to start him over an All-Star (Zach Randolph) means my actions say enough about how I feel about him. Right now, I have to coach the living, the guys on the court.”
JaMychal Green wasn't even able to muster the stats that Randolph put out coming off the bench, putting up 8.9 points and 7.3 rebounds in 27.3 minutes per game. If Green doesn't strike a deal with the team, the Grizzlies could easily start tapping into rookie Ivan Rabb, who proved to be a double-double monster with a good shooting touch from outside during his two seasons at Cal.
