Memphis Grizzlies second-year big man Jaren Jackson Jr. doesn't think New Orleans Pelicans rookie stud Zion Williamson can catch Ja Morant for the Rookie of the Year award.
While Williamson has been nothing short of spectacular in his first 11 NBA games, Morant has been putting on a show all season and leading the Grizzlies to wins when most pundits thought Memphis would be rebuilding this season.

Morant is averaging 17.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 6.9 assists in 50 games this season. He is shooting 49.2 percent from the field, 35.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 77.7 percent from the free-throw line.

New Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins has really connected with his players. Morant and Jackson already have great chemistry, and when you have two athletes like them who love playing for their coach, the sky really is the limit for the budding Grizzlies franchise.
It would be a lot of fun to watch Morant and the Grizzlies take on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. If the playoffs started today, that’s the matchup we would get.
Basketball fans in Memphis are hoping the Grizzlies can keep up their winning ways in the second half of the season and not falter in the standings. Having two youngsters like Morant and Jackson in the playoffs would be excellent for the overall development of Memphis' infrastructure.
