The Memphis Grizzlies continued their torrid stretch Thursday night, as they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 116-108. It was their 11th consecutive victory. The winning streak has them 30-14 now on the season, and only 3.5 games behind the Phoenix Suns for the top spot in the Western Conference.

Everyone knows that Ja Morant has been playing at an MVP level this season, and Desmond Bane has taken a huge leap this year. But another key reason for the team's success is the play of Jaren Jackson Jr.

On Thursday, Jackson Jr. posted 20 points, five rebounds and five blocks in the win. With that performance, he joined Anthony Davis in the history books.

Jackson Jr. became the first player since Davis in 2014 to put three straight games with 20+ points and 5+ blocks. He is also the first ever in Grizzlies franchise history to accomplish that feat.

For the season, “Triple J” is posting over 16 points, five rebounds and just under two blocks per game. But he has taken his game to a new level recently. His 16.3 points per game are still only the fourth highest on the team. Morant is dropping over 24 a game, Dillon Brooks is over 18 per game and Bane is a shade under 18.

The Grizzlies are running away with the Southwest Division. They are 6.5 games ahead of the Dallas Mavericks, who are 2nd. This team was not supposed to be this good this quickly. But the emergence of Ja Morant as one of the league's elite players has vaulted them into title contention.
