Things got heated for the Memphis Grizzlies after they took a 101-94 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Garrett Temple and Omri Casspi had a physical altercation following an emotional team meeting.

More details about the heated confrontation between the two veterans are expected to surface soon.

Curiously, both players did not contribute much against the Pistons. Casspi went scoreless in five minutes of action. Temple had a lot of chance to contribute, but the 32-year-old finished with just seven points and three assists in 37 minutes. He shot just 2-for-8 from the field, including a measly 1-for-4 clip from beyond the arc.

The Grizzlies are in the middle of an ugly slump, losing in eight of their last 10 games, including their last three assignments. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff did not talk about the reported heated tussle. Instead, he said that the team just had a conversation that they badly needed.

“I think addressing larger issues was the conversation that we needed to have,” Bickerstaff told the David Cobb of the Commercial Appeal. “Right now, it’s not X’s and O’s that need to be resolved. I think we resolved some of those issues tonight.”

Veteran point guard Mike Conley added that they had a “productive” conversation. Conley was also a shadow of his usual self, as he also went scoreless on 0-for-8 shooting in 28 minutes of playing time.

Marc Gasol, who also failed to get into his usual rhythm, finished with 11 points in 30 minutes. Gasol, who did not score even a single point in the second half, also confirmed that the team had an emotional talk after the game, where they openly shared their thoughts about their current skid.
