Memphis Grizzlies forward Chandler Parsons took an indefinite leave and his team has been looking to move on from him and the hefty $49 million remaining on his overpriced contract. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Grizzlies' haven't shown a willingness to include a first-round draft pick to move Parsons' deal but have been open to accepting a longer-term contract for him.

This stands at seeing another contract as the lesser of two evils compared to Chandler Parsons, who signed a four-year, $94.4 million deal with the Grizzlies and has merely played 73 games in two-and-a-half seasons with the team. Parting with an additional asset as compensation for taking on Parsons' barbarity of a contract isn't exactly what the team has in mind.

Parsons has only played in three of Memphis' initial 40 games this season and expressed disappointment at the franchise's decision to cut ties with him permanently.

“I am extremely disappointed that I didn't get to finish this season alongside my teammates and the Memphis coaching staff,” Parsons told ESPN in a statement. “Unfortunately that option wasn't presented to me.

“The Grizzlies training staff medically cleared me to play 5-on-5 in mid-December and I have been practicing with the team ever since. I will continue to work out and train until my agent and the team reach a resolution. I am ready to play and committed to getting back on the court.”

Since joining Memphis, Parsons has averaged 6.2, 7.9, and 5.7 points per game in each of his three seasons, failing to average 20 minutes per game due to the multitude of injuries that have plagued his body since he was signed to his deal in 2016.
