Legendary rapper Lil Wayne is a huge fan of Memphis Grizzlies rookie point guard Ja Morant.

While chopping it up with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Wayne called Ja “a dog.”

The new Grizzlies franchise player appreciates the support and love from Lil Wayne:

Morant was on his way to winning Rookie of the Year before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19. Ja was averaging 17.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.9 assists for the Grizzlies while shooting 49.1 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from beyond the arc and 77.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Before the season started, no one picked the Grizzlies to make the playoffs. Behind Morant and second-year big man Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies were in eighth place in the rugged Western Conference standings before Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19.

The way Morant and Jackson have led the franchise as youngsters is very impressive and Memphis appears to have a bright future with Ja and JJJ leading the way.

Morant put up 24.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 10.0 assists for Murray State last season. He has kind of been making the transition from college to the pros look a little too easy.

It's going to be scary to see how good Morant is in a couple of years for the Grizzlies as he continues to develop his game and body.
