Gundam Evolution is Bandai Namco's latest upcoming first-person shooter. It will be set in the Gundam universe and feature 6v6 battles. The game is set to launch on PC in 2022. It will also be free-to-play.

Based on the teaser trailer, the action will be incredibly fast-paced. The gameplay also seems quite similar to other team-based shooters such as Overwatch. It also shows off some Gundam models that will be playable, such as the GM Sniper II and the Gundam Barbatos. The official website has listed the Gundam models that will be playable:

  • RX-78-2 Gundam
  • RX-80PR Pale Rider

  • ASW-G-O8 Gundam Barbatos
  • MSN-04 Sazabi

Earlier reports before the official reveal stated that Gundam Evolution is Bandai Namco's attempt at tapping the esports market. At least, aside from their current efforts with fighting games like Tekken. The game will also feature Point Capture, Domination, and Destruction game modes. Gundam Evolution will be the latest player-versus-player-focused competitive Gundam game since New Gundam Breaker.

Bandai Namco has a prolific history with the Gundam franchise, having released more than 80 games for the series in the past. Unfortunately, they very rarely get localized and released worldwide. However, if Bandai Namco truly aims to capture the esports market, it seems highly likely for the new title to come to western shores.

Gundam Evolution will also be having Closed Beta Test spanning August and September. However, the CBT will be limited only to Japan.
