The Atlanta Hawks are slated to announce the signing of shooting guard R.J. Hunter, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In fact, they have. Hunter is expected to fight for a spot in the 15-man roster during training camp.

The Georgia State product has bounced between three teams in the first three seasons of his NBA career, first with the Boston Celtics, then the Chicago Bulls, and most recently with the Houston Rockets, making his lone career start along with five appearances.

The 24-year-old hasn't gotten any significant playing team with any of his previous three teams, averaging nine minutes or less, but could carve a role with plenty of young players in the roster.

Hunter, a 28th overall selection by the Celtics in the 2015 NBA Draft, averaged 3.8 points and 1.0 assist per game during his short-lived stint with the Rockets.

Whether or not R.J. Hunter will be able to stick with Atlanta is not yet known. That being said, it isn't unheard of for journeymen players, who were previously projected to do well but struggled out of the gate, to figure it out after bouncing around the NBA for a full years.

Hunter is an easy guy to root for, so most of the NBA community seems to be doing just that.
