Atlanta Hawks rookie Cam Reddish will miss his team's Friday matchup with the Detroit Pistons due to a wrist injury, according to head coach Lloyd Pierce. In his place, fourth-year wing DeAndre' Bembry will start.

The 4-10 Hawks are coming off four consecutive losses, the most recent being an eight-point home loss to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks where the first-year small forward Reddish scored 17 points in 28 minutes, shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from long range.

Besides Wednesday's better outing, Reddish has had an uninspiring rookie season thus far, averaging 7.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 24.6 minutes per game, while shooting 29.8 percent from the field and 23.5 percent from 3-point range. The Hawks selected Reddish with the 10th overall pick out of Duke University in this past June's NBA Draft.

Last month, Pierce dispersed pessimism about the 20-year-old's slow start.

“He’s going to be fine, offensively. His skill set is too advanced for him not to be able to score at this level. The fact that he can defend already, that’s normally my biggest concern,” Pierce said, per Sarah K. Spencer of The Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Meanwhile, after playing in every game for the Hawks last season, Bembry has been a consistent player off the bench for Pierce and Atlanta. Friday's matchup will be the first time he will start for the team this 2019-20 campaign.

Bembry is averaging 6.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 25.0 minutes per game this year, shooting 51.9 percent from the floor. Bembry has been a Swiss army knife for Atlanta during his tenure, growing into a mature player who does a little bit of everything for the Eastern Conference franchise.
