Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young loves basketball just as much as the next NBA star.
The current time off the court due to the coronavirus suspension has only made Young's love and appreciation for the game even stronger:
“I miss playing a lot. I miss playing 5[-on-5],” Hawks star Trae Young told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. “Miss playing with my teammates. I miss being around our fans. I miss playing on the road. I miss it a lot right now, especially because you can’t do anything other than be in our houses and play video games and play on basketball goals at our houses.
“This time definitely makes you appreciate things you have. It makes me appreciate the game I love at the highest level a lot more.”
While the Hawks were only able to win 20 games before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus, Young has firmly established himself as one of the most exciting players to watch in the league.
Trae appeared in 60 games for the Hawks in 2019-20 prior to play being called. He was averaging 29.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.3 assists in 35.3 minutes per contest while shooting 43.7 percent from the floor, 36.1 percent from beyond the arc and 86.0 percent from the free throw line.
Young made his first All-Star team this season. The new franchise player for the Hawks figures to be a multi-time All-Star.
NBA owners are hoping to resume the season in the summer. Young and the Hawks were headed for the lottery, as Atlanta had the second-worst record in the East.
