Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young believes the team has a big opportunity next season to make some noise in the Eastern Conference.

The Hawks' roster is headlined by Young, John Collins, Kevin Huerter, Vince Carter and rookies De'Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish and Bruno Fernando.

Atlanta also acquired veteran small forward Evan Turner from the Portland Trail Blazers and signed former No. 2 overall pick Jabari Parker in free agency.

Young says the playoffs are within reach for the Hawks.

“I think there’s a big opportunity for us,” Young said, via the Washington Post. “We can go as far as we want to go. I definitely believe we can [compete for a playoff spot]. Depending on how the season goes, anything can happen [with all-star selections], God willing. Once we start winning, all the other accolades, individual awards and all-star, all that stuff will be taken care of.”

During his rookie season, Trae Young averaged 19.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 8.1 assists while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from beyond the arc and 82.9 percent from the free-throw line. The Hawks' floor general recorded 30 double-doubles and one triple-double in 81 starts.

Young is currently in Las Vegas, as he's on the Team USA Select team. The guard is competing against some of the best players in the world every day in practice, so odds are Young is going to come into Hawks training camp a more polished and mature player.
