Atlanta Hawks veteran Vince Carter believes that San Antonio Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan deserved to finish his career with the Toronto Raptors.

As reported by Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Raptor legend looked back on the things DeRozan has done for the franchise. He didn't blame anyone for the ugly breakup between DeRozan and the Raptors, but rather, he tagged it as an unfortunate situation:

“We all look at it like DeMar has done so many great things there, which he has,” Vince Carter said. “He deserves to finish his career there, especially if he wanted to, like we all know he did.

“It’s just one of those things where the organization, I guess they saw it different. They wanted to take advantage of an opportunity and who knows if it works or not? If it works, everybody forgets about it. If it doesn’t, it blows up in their face. I think that’s how these things work, and it’s an unfortunate situation.”

Carter, 41-years-old, will be entering his 23rd season in the league. The oldest player in the league signed to the Atlanta Hawks this offseason. It's these facts alone that give credibility and heft to Carter's opinion regarding the matter.

Also, Carter himself had a rough break up with the Raptors. To recall, Carter spent his first seven seasons with the Raptors before being traded to the New Jersey Nets in 2004. Prior to the trade, various reports during that time reveal that Carter was having troubles with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and then Raptors president Richard Peddie.

Obviously, at least initially, DeMar DeRozan seemed to agree with Vince.
