Atlanta Hawks veteran wing Vince Carter tied Hall of Fame point guard John Stockton on Tuesday night, appearing in his 1,504th career regular-season game—good for fourth place all-time in the NBA, per Hawks PR.

Carter, 42, re-signed with the Hawks in the offseason after a summer of uncertainty. However, the eight-time All-Star, best known for his tenures with the Toronto Raptors and New Jersey Nets, re-upped as a free agent to play in his 22nd NBA season. When Carter plays next month, in 2020, his professional career will have spanned four decades, since he started competing in the Association since 1998.

Carter has only played in a bench role this season, averaging 5.6 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 15.8 points per game entering Tuesday's matchup at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks.

Only Robert Parish, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Dirk Nowitzki are ahead of Carter and Stockton for the NBA's all-time career games played list.

Recently, retired NBA champion power forward Channing Frye questioned the Hawks playing Carter in a grind-out situation, overtime against the Miami Heat last week.
