On Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm, the Howard University Swim Team will be making history. They are teaming up with Warner Bros. Company to host a groundbreaking event that combines entertainment and sports. This event serves as a precursor to the highly anticipated release of Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom on December 22nd.

Warner Brothers and Howard University Swim Team have joined forces to offer students an exclusive sneak peek of the highly anticipated film at the Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom Special Practice and Day Party. Additionally, Howard University is graciously opening up their team practice to the public, providing an opportunity to witness the swimmers in action while enjoying the vibrant tunes of a live DJ in Burr Gymnasium. Admission is free for students, faculty, alumni, friends, family, and community members.

Howard Swim head coach Nicholas Askew spoke with The Hilltop about the opportunity and said that the team's performance at the Battle of the Burr vs. Georgetown University was a catalyst for the event.

“They chose us because of our profile with our Howard University swimming and diving program and how well that they have done in the past couple years. A lot of our team are big movie fans and definitely love the DC universe within it with Justice League and Aquaman and things like that. So, I was excited to see what we could do.”

After a 30-year wait, the team finally received championship rings for winning the Northeastern Conference. This extraordinary accomplishment not only marked a significant milestone but also showcased the team's unwavering dedication and immense talent in collegiate and HBCU swimming.

The men's and women's teams have gained national recognition, including the prestigious Aquaman Event. In fact, their remarkable achievements in the swimming community even landed them a feature in Sports Illustrated last February.

Howard University Swim Team continues to make waves and establish itself amongst hundreds of programs nationwide. This event is an exciting milestone for this team.
