Andre Iguodala says getting traded to the Miami Heat has reinvigorated his love for basketball.

The Heat acquired Iguodala from the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday:

“I kind of got excited about basketball again,” Iguodala told Nick Friedell of ESPN. “Playing with [the Golden State Warriors], we go to the Finals every year, and the media scrutiny behind every single move — you get exhausted.

“You've had a good break, but then you kind of see where the game's trending, you don't know, it's like, ‘Where do I fit in?' And it's kind of a blessing in disguise, like this is the perfect spot. I can do a lot of different things here. A lot of different things. It doesn't have to be just defense or just passing. Or just in the corners. It's going to be good. It's going to be good. I'm going to do a lot of different things.”

Last season with the Golden State Warriors, Iguodala averaged 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 50.0 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 58.2 percent from the free-throw line. The 35-year-old swingman put up 9.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the 2019 playoffs.

The Heat are thrilled to have Iguodala in South Beach. They now have three elite defenders in Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Iguodala.

Iguodala has been training on his own while the Grizzlies tried to find a trade partner. While the pressure was increasing for the Grizzlies to find a trade for Iguodala, Pat Riley and the Heat stepped in a day before the trade deadline and made the blockbuster move.

A former star, Iguodala has career NBA averages of 12.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
