With how injuries were a major problem for the Miami Heat last season, some of that bug has carried into the present with standout Caleb Martin. However, Martin spoke to the media after practice Tuesday and gave updates about his health and how he's feeling.

Martin suffered a knee injury right before the preseason and had missed all the exhibition games until he made a return against the Houston Rockets last Friday. The 28-year-old said that he's healing by the day and is eager to contribute to the team.

“I still feel some discomfort, but it's a work in progress with the treatments and stuff,” Martin said. “But, I'm feeling a lot better and excited to get back into the flow of things.”

The former Charlotte Hornet is coming off of his best season yet as he was integral for the Heat as part of their extraordinary run in last season's playoffs. Once fully healthy, he should take on a bigger role with the team whether it be in the starting lineup or providing a major spark off the bench.

He was on a minutes restriction against the Rockets and it's looking like it'll be the same in the season opener Wednesday as he will be available to play.

“I'll be available tomorrow. I'm sure there will be [limited minutes],” Martin said. “It's still proceeding with caution, just kind of seeing how my body responds.

The Heat open the 2023-24 season tomorrow night as they face the Detroit Pistons at the Kaseya Center at 7:30 p.m. (EST).
