The Miami Heat got one of the better ends of the trade deadline after they swooped in to acquire Victor Oladipo from the Houston Rockets. The deal eventually got the approval of Dwyane Wade who welcomed the newcomer in Miami via a post on Twitter.

The two-time All-Star initially started the season with the Indiana Pacers but found himself in the middle of the blockbuster James Harden trade back in mid-January. He eventually had a short stint in Houston as he averaged 21.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.0 assists through 20 games played with the Rockets.

As expected, Victor Oladipo generated much buzz leading up to March 25 as he was linked to countless teams who are looking to add a capable wingman. The Heat successfully manufactured the deal at the right time as they shipped Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk, and a 2022 draft pick swap in exchange for Oladipo.

Bradley was initially poised to be a veteran contributor for the Heat but he never saw significant action on the floor as he was riddled with injuries and COVID-19 protocols. Meanwhile, Olynyk has been in Miami for the past three seasons and is currently averaging 10.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists as a backup center off the bench.

After landing in South Beach, Victor Oladipo is expected to complement the play of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo for the remainder of the season. The Heatare hoping that their newest acquisition will allow them to turn things around and further climb up the Eastern Conference standings in their coming games.
