Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic has been nursing a knee injury. It will keep him out of Friday's contest the Memphis Grizzlies, per the Miami Herald's Anthony Chiang.

The injury is listed to be day-to-day, as he missed Tuesday's contest against the Utah Jazz. Tyler Johnson took his place in the starting lineup in Tuesday's matchup and could do so again Friday. Dragic will likely come back into the starting lineup Sunday in New Orleans against the Pelicans.

Goran Dragic has been Miami's starting point guard since the 2014-15 season. The 32-year-old, 13 year NBA veteran is averaging 15.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists while shooting 41.2 percent from the field. He has one all start appearance on his resume (in 2018) and also won the most improved player award in 2013-14 while playing for the Phoenix Suns.

The Miami Heat are 11-16 on the season, sitting ninth in the NBA's Eastern Conference. A young core of Justin Richardson, Justice Winslow, and Bam Abadeyo have led this team. Center Hassan Whiteside is in a contract year and could possibly be packaged in a rental if the Heat continues to fall out of the playoff race. Richardson is averaging 18.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists while shooting 40.4 percent. The 26-year-old is considered one of the best 3 and D wings in the entire NBA.

The Memphis Grizzlies have been quite the surprise this season. They are 16-11 and sit 6th in the NBA's Western Conference. The combination of big men Marc Gasol and Jaren Jackson Jr. have allowed the Grizzlies to have one of the best defense in the league.

Marc Gasol finally is healthy and has had his workload cut in half with Jackson Jr. allowing him to get much-needed rest defensively. Gasol is averaging 16.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 4 assists while shooting 44.6 percent from the field. He's a front-runner for defensive player of the year.
