Through his first two seasons in the league with the Miami Heat, forward Justise Winslow has niched out a significant role.

However, Winslow has notably struggled to show any vast improvement on his outside shooting ability over that span. According to Anthony Chiang of the PalmBeachPost.com, the 21-year-old voiced that he believes it's one of his biggest priorities heading into his third campaign.

“It’s a huge priority for me,” said Winslow, who is entering his third NBA season. “But also in the big picture as far as the team and that second unit. If I’m knocking that down then we’ve pretty much got five 3-point shooters out there, five guys that can put it on the ground. That second unit will be really special. I don’t want it to be my fault with the spacing and all that. I’m putting in the time and that’s all I know.”

Winslow has made a major commitment to improving that aspect of his game as he had set the goal of making at least 500 shots per day over the offseason. It has remained the one area that has prevented him from truly taking off as a promising star player in the league.

Prior to undergoing surgery for a torn labrum in his right shoulder back in January, Winslow had been averaging 10.9 points on only 35.6 percent shooting from the field and just 20 percent from beyond the arc in game 18 played. In fact, he held the sixth-worst 3-point percentage for players that took at least 1.5 three-pointers per game last year.

If Winslow can show some consistency in his outside shooting, it could go a long way in helping him become one of the leading offensive contributors on the team. He has already shown to be an effective scorer at the rim as well as a promising defender, which could all make an improved shooting ability a critical part of the puzzle for him moving forward in his career.
