Miami Heat star small forward Jimmy Butler won't play in the team's season opener on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Heat say Butler is out for personal reasons. Head coach Erik Spoelstra says everything is fine with Jimmy, which is great news for Miami all things considered:

Butler, a four-time All-Star, signed a four-year, $140.8 million contract with Miami in July as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. The swingman played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sixers last season.

Butler averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game with the Timberwolves and Sixers in 2018-19 while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Jimmy was reportedly blown away by all the pomp and circumstance surrounding Dwyane Wade’s final home game with the Heat last season and told friends after the game being able to see what Miami and the Heat organization are about left an enormous impact on him.

The Heat are hoping Butler can lead the franchise back to the playoffs, as Miami missed the postseason in 2018-19. The Heat should be able to defeat the Grizzlies sans Butler down in South Beach.

Miami's next game is on Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
