Kyle Lowry's move to the Miami Heat might come as a surprise to some NBA fans, but for the former Toronto Raptors guard, the decision was easy. The reason? As it turns out, it's Jimmy Butler.

In an interview with The Miami Herald, Lowry talks about his relationship with Butler as one of the biggest factors in his decision to join the Heat. (via The Miami Herald, u/GuyCarbonneauGOAT on Reddit)

“Me and Jimmy, we’ve been talking about this for a long time now. He was continuing to chirp about it and talk to me about it [this summer]. But as a true friend, it doesn’t matter what decision I made; he was going to support me. But he was really on me about coming to the Heat and fulfilling some things that we talked about before.”

Butler considers Lowry to be one of his true best friends, even asking Lowry to be a godfather to his daughter two years ago.

“[Lowry is] one of my absolute best friends. As competitive as it is, we’re always laughing, always joking around.”

The Heat duo's chemistry from way back will be of great help to this Heat team. They're looking to get back to the NBA Finals after failing to get back there last year, and Lowry's leadership will be important to that run. With Kyle Lowry in the fold alongside Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro (who has had some interesting growth this offseason), the Heat are contenders to compete for a title.
