Miami Heat small forward Jimmy Butler is celebrating his 30th birthday on Saturday. Dwyane Wade decided to send Butler a funny birthday message on Twitter for all of Heat Nation to see.

If you recall, back in 2013, Jimmy Butler told Chicago Splash Magazine, “The one thing I’d never wear is … a Miami Heat jersey.”

Fast forward to today, and Butler is the new face of the franchise now that Dwyane Wade is retired. Butler, a four-time All-Star, signed a four-year, $140.79 million contract with the Heat in July as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. The swingman played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sixers last season.

Butler averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists with the Timberwolves and Sixers in 2018-19 while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The now 30-year-old Butler was reportedly blown away by all the pomp and circumstance surrounding Wade’s last home game with the Heat last season and told friends after the game being able to see what Miami and the Heat organization are about left an enormous impact on him.

Butler will try and lead Miami to the playoffs in 2019-20. The Heat missed the postseason last year.
