Rumor: Heat could try trading for Bradley Beal, John Wall
The Miami Heat managed to make a splash with the addition of former Philadelphia 76ers star Jimmy Butler. It seems they could be looking to make another splash before the start of the 2019-20 NBA season.
There has been plenty of speculation regarding the Washington Wizards’ plans for their backcourt duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal. According to ESPN’s Frank Isola, the Heat have reportedly expressed interest in bringing them to Miami:
The prospect of both Wall and Beal may seem a bit far-fetched at this point. Regardless, it is still too intriguing of an outcome to overlook given all that has transpired this offseason.
Balance was finally brought back to the NBA after players decided to revert to pairs in order to continue their pursuit of a championship. Miami attempted to follow the trend by potentially bringing in Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook. Reports suggest the deal ultimately fell through due to the Heat’s reluctance to include youngsters Bam Adebayo or Tyler Herro in trade offers.
Although Miami may have struck out on its first attempt to form a star duo with Butler, it appears they are still exploring all options. Acquiring either player would be a welcome addition to this roster, however, bringing in both would undoubtedly give the Heat some extra star power to help stake their claim in the East.
At this point, it appears Beal has emerged as the more likely option to join given his uncertain future with the Wizards and the risks that come with taking on Wall’s lucrative contract, which looks even worse these days because of the Achilles injury that will keep him out for at least part of next season.
