Tyler Herro has been balling out for the Miami Heat this season. He's been an absolute revelation for this side and his strong play has propelled him as the frontrunner for this term's Sixth Man of the Year.

One of the reasons behind Herro's strong play stems from the fact that he currently has just two more years remaining on his current deal. The 21-year-old knows that he's literally playing for his future here and this has produced some of the best basketball of the Heat stud's young career.

As it seems, however, Tyler Herro will need to keep his expectations in check. According to ESPN analyst and former Brooklyn Nets executive Bobby Marks, Herro should accept the harsh reality that the Heat aren't going to be offering him a max deal this summer:

“I don’t think he’s getting that [a max deal] from Miami next offseason,” Marks told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, via text message.

There's no denying that Herro has been one of the best players on the Heat this season, and it's also true that he's one of the brightest young stars in the NBA today. Nevertheless, this does not mean that Miami will be putting a max deal on the table for him. The truth is that he just hasn't done enough to deserve a contract in the $150 million range.

Be that as it may, Herro is still expected to put pen to paper on a massive extension in the offseason. According to Marks, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard could be looking at upwards of $20 million per year with the Heat:

“Shooting is certainly a premium right now,” Marks said. “Average shooters are getting $17-$18 million right now. I think he’s north of $20 million. Different player but likely in that Mikal Bridges-type territory — four years, $90 million. Might be a little more.”

If Marks is right, then Herro could be penning a deal worth at least $100 million for four years. That's not max money, but that's absolutely not bad at all either. After all, Herro is just in his third season in the NBA and he still has a lot of basketball ahead of him. If he continues on his current trajectory then it would not be surprising if he ends up penning a max deal in the future.

The big question now is whether or not Tyler Herro will sign his name on the dotted line. The Heat have given him the right platform to reach his potential since being drafted by the team as the 13th overall pick in 2019. He's a fan favorite in South Beach as well, so at this point, all signs are pointing towards a lengthy and fruitful marriage between Herro and the Heat.

You have to note that nothing is set in stone, though, and up and until he puts pen to paper, then anything can still happen. Several teams out there will be keeping their eye on Herro's situation in Miami especially given his breakout campaign this year. One mistake by the Heat and they could end up losing their sharp-shooting rising star.
