Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball strengthened his claim that he's the real deal by breaking an insane rookie record that stood for six decades.

Per Elias Sports Bureau, Ball is the only player in the last 60 seasons to lead all rookies in total points, rebounds, assists, and steals at the All-Star break.

Statistics reveal that Ball has a total of 553 points. First overall pick Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves is second with 536. In terms of rebounds, Ball has 211 while Isaiah Stewart of the Detroit Pistons has 196. For assists, Ball has a total of 221 while Tyrese Haliburton of the Sacramento Kings comes in second with 161. And finally, Ball has a total of 57 steals while Haliburton trails by a wide margin with 42.

Anybody who knows more than a thing or two about the games knows that statistics are not everything. But they do tell a lot about the player's activity on the floor. In the case of Ball, he seems to have a knack at filling the stat sheet like his older brother Lonzo as well as the likes of James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Luka Doncic, and LeBron James. NBA fans need no introduction to each of those player's resumes.

It would be unfair to compare LaMelo Ball to the aforementioned names. After all, Ball is just starting his NBA journey. While he has shown similarities in terms of playstyle, Ball has shown that he has his own way of playing and approaching the game of basketball. In time, people will stop comparing and start appreciating the kid.
