Space Jam 2 is in the works and fans of the original are giddy with excitement. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is taking on the leading role in the film and following in Michael Jordan's footsteps once again. Jordan, the owner of the Charlotte Hornets, played the iconic leading role in the original installment of the movie.

But fans who were hoping to see Jordan make a cameo appearance could be in luck. According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN:

“Space Jam 2, while a part of the Space Jam franchise, is not considered a sequel, a source familiar with the production told ESPN. However, there have been discussions in involving Michael Jordan in some way. At this point, Jordan’s level of involvement is to be determined.”

Jordan was fantastic in Space Jam and the iconic player helped turn the film into a cult classic. Without Jordan, there would be no Space Jam 2 so it's only fitting that he would be involved in the movie in some way.

There are a few ways they could go with including Jordan. There's a chance that he only appears in the film for a short scene to connect the old with the new. Then again, they could put Jordan in a bigger role. Don't expect the Monstars to steal Jordan's basketball talent, but perhaps he could be the guy to come in and help save the day a la Bill Murray in the original film.

Whatever role Jordan plays, fans of the original film are just thrilled that they are finally getting another.
