The Charlotte Hornets have dug themselves in a lot of holes early in games so far this season. They did it again on Saturday night against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Hornets were down by 31 points at halftime and the game pretty much looked like it was over going into the third quarter. However, everything shifted in the second half, in a huge way. The Hornets won that half and outscored the Grizzlies 75-51. A majority of credit for that comeback has to go to the Hornets' newest addition, Montrezl Harrell. Harrell's energy off the bench was unmatched and he finished with 20 points and nine rebounds in just his second game with Charlotte.

His efforts along with his college teammate, Terry Rozier, trimmed the large deficit to just a mere four points. Rozier had 35 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Louisville definitely stood up tonight and coach James Borrego couldn’t be anymore proud of his two veterans.

“There's a base of leadership in there now. They really pushed the group forward and held the team accountable. Their offense speaks for itself, they controlled that game.”

Those two kick started the run and everyone else hopped on the bus. JT Thor had big moments defensively, LaMelo Ball put up double figures in the fourth quarter as well. Everything was clicking for this team, but it just came together way too late. Resiliency is cool and all, but it's even better when you have to nurse a large lead instead of fighting to get your first one of the game. Still, it is interesting to see the type of impact Harrell has had on the team already. In just two short days, he already appears to be the voice in the locker room. Rozier definitely endorses that statement.

“I love his energy and leadership in timeouts,” the Hornets veteran said. “Always talking, encouraging, and uplifting guys. He was talking when he first got with us. I looks like he's been here longer then all of us. I already knew what he brought to the table though. Normally, when guys come to a new team, they aren’t comfortable talking. He's been talkative since he got here and we all follow him. It's great to have that addition to our team.”

Harrell is already loved by his teammates and it didn't even take 48 hours to do so. The Hornets are 1-1 with him on the roster and they have two more games until the All-Star break. If they can manage to snag these last two games, the Hornets can head into the break with some momentum while they get a little rest for their bodies. This last quarter of the season is going to be do or die for a lot of teams, including the Hornets. A final push for a playoff spot needs to be made. Having Harrell makes that goal seem a lot more realistic.
