The Houston Texans enter Week 16 (3-11) and are officially out of the playoff race. They will host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday who are coming off a brutal overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15. It's time for the Houston Texans Week 16 bold predictions.

The weekend is approaching and neither team has any idea how many players will be available for Sunday. Both teams are adding players to the Covid-19 list and it's unclear why the NFL hasn't rescheduled the contest. Earlier in the week, the Texans were up to 23 players on the Covid-19 list but that number should be lower come Sunday. LA placed as much as nine on the Covid-19 list as of Wednesday.

Quarterback Davis Mills earned his first career win last week when they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's now 1-7 in his career and looks to win two in a row against a good Chargers team. The Chargers are 8-6 and are looking to get back to the playoffs.

It's going to be a next-man-up mentality this week. Here are my Houston Texans Week 16 bold predictions.

Texans Week 16 Predictions vs. Los Angeles Chargers

4. Brevin Jordan finds the end zone again

Jordan did not play in the first seven games for the Texans. He debuted in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams and scored his first career touchdown. Since then, he's scored two more times which puts him sixth all-time in touchdown receptions by a rookie tight end through his first six games. Jordan missed last week with a hand injury but is scheduled to play on Sunday. Jordan is a light of hope for Houston. He's a skilled route runner who displays great hands. Once he gets more experience he is on pace to become a good tight end in this league.

The Chargers aren't very good against the tight end position. Travis Kelce played the game of his life last Thursday night and I'm sure that motivated Jordan. The rookie tight end will once again find the end zone this week.

3. Texans rush for over 100 yards

The Texans' run game is 32nd in the NFL. The good news is that the Chargers run defense is one of the worst in the NFL as well. Running back David Johnson is listed as questionable ahead of the game. It's not clear if he will suit up or not, so backups Rex Burkhead and Royce Freeman should get more carries. Burkhead leads the team in carries and should be the primary back on Sunday. The Texans' game plan should be to focus on the run game because the Chargers will be without Joey Bosa and Justin Jones on Sunday. Those two are vital to the Bolts' defensive line and so the Texans need to take advantage of that. The Texans will rush for over a hundred yards and put pressure on the Chargers' defense.

2. Texans defense forces a turnover

Houston will host one of the top offenses in the NFL. Chargers' quarterback Justin Herbert is fresh off of his first Pro Bowl selection and is leading the Bolts to a potential playoff birth. There isn't anything exciting about the Texans' defense. After the release of linebacker Zach Cunningham, there isn't much elite talent on the defensive side. The Chargers will be missing running back Austin Ekeler and so Herbert will be forced to throw the ball more. The Texans will find a way to force a turnover by either intercepting Herbert or forcing one of the backups to fumble.

1. Davis Mills throws multiple touchdown passes

Davis Mills outperformed the No. 1 overall pick, Trevor Lawrence, last week in the win over the Jaguars. He threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. The week prior against the Seattle Seahawks, he throw for 331 yards and one touchdown. He's starting to find his groove after being named the starter. The Chargers could be without Pro Bowl safety Derwin James Jr. in the secondary, so Mills has a chance to play even better. The bad news is that he will be without star receiver Brandin Cooks. The Texans placed Cooks on the Covid-19 list earlier in the week.

Even without Cooks, Mills can still play well. Mills will keep up his strong play and throw multiple touchdown passes against the Chargers.
