The Dodgers, 39-25, will meet the Yankees, 45-19, on Friday, June 7th, at 7:05 PM ET. The game will take place at Yankee Stadium.

Despite the disparity in their records, the Dodgers' spot in the standings is much more comfortable. They sit eight games up on the Padres in the National League West, while the Yankees have a good Orioles team chasing them in the American League East. The Yankees are 4.5 games ahead of the Orioles.

The Dodgers feel good about their chances with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound. Yamamoto has a 6-2 record this season, with a 3.32 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. The Dodgers won six of his last seven starts, with the only loss coming when the Dodgers scored one run.

The Yankees are sending Cody Poteet to the mound. The right-hander underwent Tommy John surgery in 2022 but returned at the end of 2023. He had one start this season in April, allowing one earned run over six innings. Poteet returned to AAA but got another opportunity this week when Clarke Schmidt went down with an injury. He pitched another gem, allowing two earned runs over five innings.

The teams faced off at Dodger Stadium last season, with the Yankees winning two of three games. The Yankees have been even better this season, thanks to the acquisition of Juan Soto. However, Soto left Thursday night's game against the Twins with left forearm discomfort. Soto is undergoing imaging on his arm on Friday and is unlikely to suit up. The Yankees' newest slugger is batting .318/.424/.603 this season.
