Ian Garry is on top of the world after getting another win at UFC 273. He now moves to 2-0 in the promotion and it appears the sky is the limit in terms of where he can go next.
The Irishman is known as a striker and can face many different kickboxers after UFC 273. Ian Garry is not calling anyone out after his latest win but he is hoping for big fights against big-name strikers.
“Right now I’m in no position to call people out, that’s not what I want to do,” Garry told reporters including MMA Junkie at a UFC 273 post-fight news conference Saturday. “I know who I dream of fighting, there’s two dream fights. I’d love to fight Wonderboy (Thompson) on a stylistic matchup just due to the fact that striker versus striker, I think it’d be entertaining, and I’d love to fight Diaz because I definitely feel I could stop him. I just don’t think he could beat me. I don’t get tired, I’m gonna piece the mouth off him.”
Ian Garry is still young and the UFC is going to be careful with whom they book him next. Stephen Thompson has beaten many young contenders and stopped many fighters from crossing over to the next level in the promotion.
Nate Diaz is an interesting fight but the legendary fan favorite is not going to be looking to fight someone that’s so young in their career with little name value. It will be interesting to see what the UFC does with Ian Garry moving forward.
