Ever since Memphis Grizzlies' superstar Ja Morant released his first signature basketball shoe with Nike, the Nike Ja 1, fans have already been clamoring for the follow-up to his wildly popular sneakers. Rumors have been swirling and while there hasn't been any official word from Morant or Nike, the Nike Ja 2 is expected to come sooner rather than later. A recent leak of the shoes provides a mysterious look that a prototype is likely already in production.

The Nike Ja 1 has been released in over 25 colorways and has been featured in full sizing, to which most releases have been met with great demand and quick sell-outs online. The first reports of a second edition came from Sole Retriever and indicated that the Nike Ja 2 would be coming Holiday 2024 for a retail tag of $120.
Recently, however, an image was leaked on social media depicting what looks to be the outsole of a new Nike Ja Morant sneaker. The tell-tale sign here is the word “Twelve” written repeatedly around the Nike Swoosh. The quote “For the underdogs who have the dawg in them” accompanied by Morant's “JM” logo is also a clear indicator of the upcoming pair.
Later updated, it was rumored that the upcoming colorway would be dubbed “Black Phantom.” After seeing this initial leak of the sneaker's outsole donning black and a smoky grey color, the information we've heard so far could be in-line with the actual drop. The colorway will read Black/Phantom-Light Smoke Grey-Light Lemon Twist, so we should see some hits of Grizzlies' yellow in these sneakers.
We're still waiting on more information to release from Nike on these, but all signs should be pointing towards the suspected drop during Holiday 2024, giving these plenty of time to see some action on the court. The Nike Ja 1 continues to be a high-performing sneaker at an affordable price point, so we should see the same type of success with the upcoming Nike Ja 2.
Ja Morant will make his long-awaited return during the 2024-25 NBA season following his injury and disappointing end to the last season. With him being one of the brightest young stars in the game, the NBA only gets more exciting when Ja Morant is playing basketball.
