After a stellar rookie year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, quarterback Gardner Minshew expressed his gratitude for all those who helped him in his first-year campaign leading up to the present.

Like any other rookie, Minshew expected to be a reserve quarterback behind veteran Nick Foles. However, a gruesome shoulder injury to Foles forced the team to field Minshew as their new starting quarterback.

“It’s been a lot of fun,” Minshew said of his journey so far, per James Johnson of Jaguars Wire via Yahoo Sports. “But you know what, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. I feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. I’m super grateful for the people I’ve had around me, that have gotten me to this point, that have helped me prepare for this. And I’m appreciative for the faith that people have put into me, to give me this position. It’s a responsibility that I don’t take lightly and it’s something that I look forward to earning every day, every week.”

Though Foles eventually suited back up and returned to the starting lineup, the Jaguars had already built a predilection for Minshew's play. On top of which, Foles struggled to return to his old self. This triggered the Jaguars to give the starting quarterback position back to Minshew.

And earlier this March, the Jaguars made the firm yet decisive choice to trade Foles away. This simply means that the team is confident that Minshew — who's entering his second year — is the team's new offensive orchestrator.
